'Twas the Friday before Christmas

Well, it's the Friday before Christmas and I'm bored. I'm at work and my office (Student Ministries) is empty, as is the case on most Fridays. So, I've decided to babble at you all for a little bit. Can I just tell you that a huge burden has been lifted off my shoulders. I have been worrying about the DUNES retreat (this super huge high school retreat that my church does in February that usually has about 250 kids that go) for awhile now. It's been looming over my head and every time I would think about it I would get a little flutter in my stomach. The thing that was making me nervous was all the PR stuff that I was going to have to come up with. It's not that I don't think I'm not creative enough to do it, it's just that the girls that have done this job before me have been amazingly artistic and creative (Bekah) and I just didn't know if I could do what Ryan and Trina were used to. Well this week I decided I would get a head start on things and work on the mailer (even though it isn't going out till the 6th) so that I would have enough time to stress about it and make the necessary changes and all that. I worked on it on and off until yesterday when I finally felt good enough about it to show it to Ry and TC. They took one look and said it was crap and that I didn't get the concept at all and that I had to scrap everything and start from scratch....believe me? Good, cause that's not even close. They loved it! Or at least thats what they told me. They could be lying just to be nice to the semi new girl, but I think I'll continue to think they were being honest. Let me tell you, that just really made my day! Actually it made my whole month. Phew!!! Load off my mind!! Now I feel so much better about DUNES it's just not even funny. I'll have to post a picture of the poster I made so you can see what I'm talking about. I'm also excited cause being a mentor I get to go to DUNES. I've never been so it should be fun. It's also on my birthday this year, and we all know how I get about my birthday. :)

Anyways, just felt like babbling some more. I'm sure my blog is going to be totally boring for you all to read but I think I'm going to enjoy it. :)

Our cute Christmas tree

Here are a few pics of our cute little Christmas tree. We decided to go small this year since our apartment isn't too big and can't really handle a huge tree. Plus it was just so stinkin cute that I just had to get it. I even cut it down all by myself. Again, sorry for the small pictures. I'm really bumbed about that but oh well. ME!

Oh, here's me, the little worker bee (I made a rhyme). Can I just say that I love my job? I can? Great! I started on August 24th, 2005 and I LOVE MY JOB!!! I LOVE absolutly everyone that I work with, the environment that I'm in and I love that I'm doing new things all the time. There is never a dull moment around here, that is for sure.

One great thing that has come from working here that would hopefully have happened down the road, is that Good Shepherd really feels more like my church home. I walk into church on the weekends and people say hi to me and I say hi to people. I, Tabitha, know people here and people know me. It's so fun! Who knew?

Okay, I'm done. I really do mindlessly babble don't I? If you know me at all you won't be surprised. :) But, hey, it keeps things interesting.

Nutcracker and Narnia

Well, a few weeks ago (okay, the 8th of this month) Jenn Abel and myself took out Kellee Peil, Abbey Dragoon and Stacey Caswell to McMennamins for dinner and then to see the Nutcracker down at the Keller Auditorium. Someone had dropped off free tickets to the dress rehersal so we decided to use them. It was a fun night, girls nights out always are. On the way home Jenn and I decided to go see the midnight showing of Narnia out in Sandy so we called Tracy and headed out to stay up way past our bed times and live a little. :) The movie was fabulous! I loved it! But guess what I did (remember the time I saw this movie and what I had already done that day). I feel asleep. No surprise there. Except that I had to fall asleep during the most important part of the movie, when Aslan is on the table. Sometimes I could just kick myself. OH well, just means I have to see it again. Good thing I liked it. Anywho, thats enough from me for now. I'll try and do more catching up and bring you all up to speed so my blog isn't totally boring and pointless. Oh, wait, my blog is called mindless bable, so isn't that the point?

Just so you know, that was the very first and only thing I ever posted, WAY WAY WAY back in July of 04. We'll see if I can keep it up. Thought I might try since everyone else is doing it and maybe I can at least post pictures. :) And don't expect an update all the time. It will probably be very sparadic (but not as bad as the first time) :). I should add that I feel a little more compelled to have and keep this up and going since Janie made that comment about going to my site and not finding anything (how embarrassing!). OH well, that's my life. Anywho, love you all. Hope you enjoy the site!

Gotta love Choir and ice

Well, this last weekend was a fun weekend. I sang in the Choir at church and just had a blast. The songs were great, challenging to learn but fun to sing. They all had great messages and I found it hard not to smile while singing a few of them. I also got to meet a lot of new people through the practicing process and deepen other friendships. Basically just loved it!

Then Sunday afternoon it snowed...and then iced. When I got home Sunday afternoon after doing a bit of Christmas shopping (my last and a whole week before Christmas) I got into my warm pj's, put on a Christmas movie and wrapped presents. It was a pleasant afternoon. Then my dad called and said that it was going to get really bad and invited me over to have dinner and stay the night. Since Annie was gone to Chicago I didn't want to get stuck at home all by my lonesome so I took my parents up on their offer. It was a pleasant time of hanging out and scrounging in their fridge for a makeshift dinner. I should mention that my parents practically live in the Gorge so all night I was afraid the house was going to get blown away. In the morning my dad drove me to work since my car was under a blog and a half of ice (well it looked that way at least). There were hardly any people when we got there and not too many more showed up. Not surprisingly, no one in my office came into work except me. What's wrong with this picture? :) OH well, my dad came and picked me up around 2:30 and we hung out the rest of the day. Saw King Kong: VERY LONG MOVIE. I liked it but I don't think it needed to be that long. Special effects were pretty amazing though.

It was so cold that I decided that when I got home to my apartment I would have soup and a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner (I was excited...I know I'm weird about food). Well, my plans were dashed when my electricity flickered twice and then went out. I soon realized the only way of communication I had with the outside world, short of driving somewhere, was my cell. I don't have a radio and I couldn't watch tv or get online. My apartment was so very quite. But I did enjoy doing things by candle light. And even though my apartment was pretty cold I slept the best I've slept in a long time that night. I had gotten all the blankets from the living room and piled them on my bed so it would be toasty warm (since I couldn't turn on my heating pad to keep my little toes warm like I usually do).

Well, I think that's quite enough for now. I should add that I'm sorry about the small pictures. I condensed them yesterday on accident and made them so teeny tiny it's ridiculous. But I put them up anyways cause I took them for this very purpose and by golly I'm going to use them, small or not. This should not be a problem in the future. :)
