Snowy day

Well, it's still crazy weather around these parts and here are some pictures to prove it to you.

That weird thing you see in this picture is the strap from my camera...thats how windy it was (and still is!).
And it was so freakin cold out there that I didn't even care about trying to retake it.

what the snow brings out in people

Here is what I would have missed had I not ventured out to the church Friday afternoon...

That is right folks, Linda on the John Deer Tractor.

The Jane of All Trades! This woman can do just about anything, I tell ya.

Once she got all the gears and pedals figured out she just flew right by me.

And there she goes... Watch out Bobby, she might be taking over your job...and with that new ear piece she has she can probably do the plowing and answer the phones.

And one last picture for fun... The other day when I left work early my mom and I met up for coffee and a chat.
Lovin' that hat hair on the red head.

Let's go folks!

Where to start? Which tree to choose?
Oh the questions that must be asked when hunting for the right tree.

Aren't they cute?

Go dad, go!

I love this picture of the 'rents!

I think I'll take this one home ... smells good ...

And this year I cut . . .

. . . (grrrr) . . .
. . . and carried my own tree! Quite empowering, I must say. :)

Had to get the annual cup of coffee/hot cocoa after our big Christmas tree hunt.
We earned it, that's for sure. :)

Dad's war wound

The finished Christmas tree.

Gotta love color, right?

I got this email from Quality Health this morning which had a very interesting article that I thought you readers out there might find interesting as well. :)

How Colors Can Boost Your Mood
Feeling pensive? Tranquil? Energetic? The colors around you may have a lot to do with it.

Neutral Colors
What they are: Think of these as the shades that you wouldn't necessarily find in your crayon box. Neutral colors consist of off-whites, beiges, black, and grays.

What they do: Though some might consider them boring, these shades also create an air of tranquility. Many spas and doctors' offices use these colors to inspire calm in their clientele.

Make them work for you: If serenity is what you're looking for, then you can create an oasis at home with this toned-down color palette. Although neutral colors are often used as a bridge for brighter shades, in the right combinations, they can create a space in your home that's fit for an escape from the daily demands of life.

Warm Colors
What they are: These colors do just what their name implies—create feelings of warmth and comfort. Dark reds, burnt oranges, golds, and lighter shades of brown are all examples of warm colors.

What they do: They are known to liven up a space, inspire conversation, all while remaining in the background. These darker shades of otherwise lively colors are said to invoke deep emotions such as passion, contentment, and affection.

Make them work for you: Often, colors that inspire warmth are used in a bedroom, living room, or office to create a homey or cozy feeling. You can bring that feeling to the workplace by substituting your white coffee mug with a color reminiscent of an autumn sunset or by replacing your black picture frame with a frame in a hue suggestive of a glass of red wine. You'd be surprised how far a touch of warmth can resonate.

The Power of Color
What can color do for you?

Earth Tones
What they are: Any color that feels like it comes from nature—including dark browns, forest green, khaki, and olive—falls under the category of earth tones.

What they do: These colors can make a person feel grounded and in touch with their surroundings. Earthy shades tend to balance and inspire personal growth.

Make them work for you: Bathrooms usually feel sterile—not unlike a dentist's office. Instead, picture this: a warm, cascading shower with a natural, rejuvenating paint scheme surrounding you. This could be one way to utilize earth tones to turn an ordinary experience into something else completely.

Cool Colors
What they are: Imagine how you'd feel if you were surrounded by an ocean of turquoise, vibrant blues, and sage green.

What they do: Unless you were part of the cast of Lost, you would probably feel calm, languid, and refreshed. Cool colors often evoke quiet moods—as if you were removed from reality.

Make them work for you: Calmness is not an emotion often associated with working forty hours a week, being a parent, or both. In order to keep your cool in the most stressful of situations, try to utilize these soothing shades. It may mean hanging a work of art in your office at work or creating a space at home where you are encircled by these fresh colors. Try it—it's one of the easiest ways to de-stress.

I love the color green...wonder what that says about me?

with my dad is good times...if you like being told after every bowl how to do it right for next time. "Remember to point your thumb, Tabitha" or "I said to aim for the arrow on the right." Oh, shut it dad. I know you doubled my score and all but stop being so bossy. Thats what I do best. ;)

National Eat a Red Apple Day!

That's an easy one to celebrate, don't you agree? I think even Scotty might be able to handle this from his present locale. :)

Also, if you have a few minutes to waste, check out this interesting article in Parade Magazine. It's got some VERY interesting statistics about food and how people are eating these days.

By the way, I am getting all this fabulous info (random national food days and random Parade magazine articles) from my favorite website HungryGirl. Check it out. :)

Playing catch up as usual.

This year for Halloween I actually got into the spirit...sort of. I pulled out an old costume from my college days (anyone from my OC days should remember the costume pictured below), dressed up and went to a Halloween party thrown by some of Andrew's friends. Andrew wasn't feeling well so he sent Box Man in his place. Box man is great fun cause he thinks he's scary and likes to pretend he has the skills of a ninja. You just never know what this he'll do next, so watch out.
We were quite the hit.
We went to the beach the first weekend of November with Jamin and Daniel (Andrew's brother and his wife) and their super cute kids, Ryan and Noah. We took the freakin' longest way EVER but we did find this fun little brewery in Cape Kiwanda called Pelican Pub and Brewery. Quite a delicious place to eat and it is right on the beach, can't beat that.
They had shark bites on their appetizer menu so of course we had to get them to say we ate shark. It was quite interesting and I would totally eat shark again.

Here are some other pictures from the fun weekend...

Oh, and look what Andrew got me because he knows how much I love Christmas. :) His name is Dexter and he lives on my desk at work to bring a smile to everyone's face. :)
Isn't he great?
Andrew, I mean. ;)
