Rain, rain, go away, but do come back another day

Okay, I love the rain, I really do. I pride myself on being a true Oregonian for being able to appreciate the weather that keeps it looking so gloriously green around these here parts. :) I love the smell that comes with the rain, the smell just before it rains and then the wonderful smell just after it stops. My friends always laughed at me at school cause I would get so excited when it rained (it didn't rain as much in Oklahoma, hence the brownness everywhere). But seriously folks, its been raining for something like 22 straight days, maybe even more but I've lost count; and without even so much as a sun break that I've been priveledged see (Rakel says that she saw one yesterday, lucky!).
Here are some pictures of what it looks like around Portland today (and the last 22 days) with all the rain. Like I said before, I generally am all about the cold, rainy weather but this has gone on long enough. I'm tired of getting wet every time I step out the door. It's already hard enough to get out of bed and get to the gym in the wee hours of the still dark morning, let alone when I'm getting rained on to boot. I think it's starting to affect my mood and that doesn't make me happy. See!?! Thats what I'm talking about right there!! I want to keep this love for rain and I feel it slipping away with each passing rain drop that hits my uncovered head. We need a break for crying out loud!

And you know what? I think we might get one. I just looked at the forcast on news channel 8 and they assure me that we are going to get some sun on Sunday (with a chance of showers, I guess you can't get everything). How appropriate, though...sun...on SUNday. :) And the Lord's day of all days. Makes me look all the more forward to it. Anywho, just wanted to share that with all you lovely folks. Sorry to rant a bit but I decided that things had gone on long enough. I had been silent for far too long and it was time to speak my peace. But I feel better now. Thank you for listening.

Hope you all have a great day (even if we are still being rained on)!

35 days till my birthday!!

Yeah, I agree that this rain is getting a little ridiculous. The field next to my appartment is so flooded that there are ducks swimming in it. Who knows, maybe the rain will stop in time for your birthday in 35 days. :o) Anyway, have a great day. Catch ya later...

Will you please send some of the rain my way?? It hasn't rained here in quite a long time. It's like 70 degrees here in the middle of January!! With the drought, the wind and the warm weather we are in the midst of wildfires everywhere! I want to be in Oregon with you!

And I want you to be in Oregon with me too! I am tired of the rain and the cold but seriously, 70 degrees in January? That's just not appropriate.

i don't necessarily love the rain ... the endless gray skies can definitely get to me. but i will admit that sometimes, when i was homesick in mexico, i would listen to this song by moby called "the rain falls and the sky shudders" with the sound of a light rain storm over a track of city streets, and reminisce about a good rainy day back home.

Does anyone else find it odd that Tabs and K. work in the same office and post on Tabs blog instead of picking up a phone or making comments at lunch time? :-) Seriously girls... If I didn't know better I would think that you never work! but I do know better and I love you both and I am so glad to call you my friends!!!!! Oh... and I should get sun in a couple weeks when I go to southern Spain... I know... rough life.

i know, i know ... we're crazy. my morning routine is to come in, read everyone's blogs, and post a comment or two. if you overseas leafies haven't made a new post, i guess i could just keep commenting ... but it's fun this way, because then we're all part of a global conversation. :)

Wow, tabs I didn't even know that you have a blog! I'm so happy-- I'll put you on my list if you don't mind...it helps me remember which ones I need to read! Yes, censtantly rainy is how Scotland is too, though luckily I'm in one of the less wet parts- which means it only rains 5 days out of 7. Hahaha-- maybe we should both send some to Oklahoma!
